For the first six seasons, the three players, John, Justin, and Chris, will use the worst teams from a single division each season. The team with the worst record will then have first choice the following season of the three worst teams from the next division.

After completing, and selecting teams from all six conferences over the course of six seasons, a new method was devised for picking teams for the next 6-season phase. The new method for picking teams is based on point system that is used for bidding. The points are awarded based off how well the team does each season in categories of playoffs, conference record, and statistics/team and individual records.
